ABOUT
Hi, I'm Bernie, and I'm passionate about helping artists and companies bring their audio to life. I combine my love for audio technology with a proven track record in studio design, live sound engineering and spatial audio technologies.
At Salford University, I train students on the latest tech including Dolby Atmos, Avid S6, and Pro Tools (As a certified Avid Pro Tools Instructor), which keeps my skills sharp while I also run my own business 'Microcosm Audio Ltd.' focusing on compact and affordable spatial audio monitoring.

This expertise allows me to work with local artists and businesses, helping them optimize their spaces for Dolby Atmos music production and other immersive audio formats, ranging from home studios, to bespoke art installations & research projects.

Beyond my technical/academic role, my background as a live sound engineer, which gives me a real-world understanding of acoustics and sound reinforcement. I've designed and built a number of facilities, including video editing suites, VFX suites, recording studios for music and post, and a foley studio for University of Salford, which required management of complex technical projects.
My work also extends to acoustic testing and research, where I've worked or collaborated with well-known companies such as Funktion One, DNH, Bentley Motors, and Dott Scooters, utilizing Salford University's anechoic chamber for precise acoustic measurements, including full ballon plots and research-based projects.
Whether you're looking to build a cutting-edge studio, explore the world of Dolby need advice on spatial audio, or require acoustic testing and research services, give me a shout. I'm always up for a challenge, and the opportunity to learn.

Thanks for stopping by.
